Savlon Advanced Healing Gel
Savlon Advanced Healing Gel helps soothe the pain of minor wounds and superficial burns. Its hydro-active colloid gel creates optimal healing conditions to support the skin's healing process.
Wash hands before and after treating the wound. Clean and dry the wound before applying the gel. Carefully apply the Savlon Advanced Healing Gel to the wound (without rubbing) once or twice per day.

Protection Against InfectionOpen wounds leave skin vulnerable to infections. Bacteria is one of the most common causes of skin infection and can be introduced by treating the wound with unclean hands, not cleaning the wound effectively or leaving the wound open. To prevent infection, wash your hands thoroughly to ensure you do not transfer dirt or bacteria from your hands to a wound. Ensure the wound is clean by rinsing the area with clean running water to remove any dirt or bacteria and pat the area dry with a clean paper towel or gauze. Once the area is clean and dry, apply Savlon Antiseptic to help cleanse the area, reduce the risk of infection and the natural healing of the skin. If appropriate apply a plaster, bandage or gauze dressing to the wound to help keep it dry, covered and protected from dirt or bacteria. |
Pain ReliefWe all know that when you experience an injury it can be painful. Understanding pain and its main causes can help you effectively treat it. While pain medications help, there are some alternative methods you may also find useful such as hot and cold compresses. Pain is felt when our nociceptors (our pain receptors) detect tissue damage. It can range from mild to debilitating and can feel like a sharp stabbing pain or dull ache. Can this be used for 2 year old baby?
Not an expert but have used it on 18mth old with no reaction noticed. Only on a wasp sting. Best to check wit a pharmacy

Is this product halal?
It contains a small amount of alcohol so possibly no.
Cetostearyl alcohol

Does this work for using as first aid on minor burns?
do not apply ointment to burns. treat with cold water and then a clean dressing. If it appears to be anything more than minor- get medical advice.

how long do you leave this on before taking off ?
You can leave it on and it normally soaks into your skin but the best thing to do if you put it on if it’s under a fold on your body is just wipe the skin say after 3-4 hours then just apply some more on but you shouldn’t have to do that really as you rub it into your skin when you first put it on don’t put to much on at once

My wound was as a result of a bicycle accident , the leg wound was not deep , I used this gel on my wound and covered the wound with a plaster. It went on as a wet gel of course but when the plaster was removed the wound was dry . I applied a thin layer . Hope that helps .

Hi, could this be used on a scar -that isn’t healing quickly - after a breast reduction please?
Best thing you can do is ring your gp as sometimes a cream can feed a infection and make it worse and with your situation I would want the doctor to deal with that so it didn’t get any worse

I had a scrape on my chest which just would not heal. I tried this Savlon and it acted as a sort of temporary scab, which protected the scraped area so that my body could start to heal. I found that after a few days the healing process started and all I had to do was put Germoline on it and keep it protected from further damage. It was also better to leave it open to the air instead of putting a plaster on it.
From my experience it would appear that one needs to enable the body to seal off the leaks and the termporary 'scab' produced with Savlon may assist. But the most important thing in my experience is to prevent the wound from opening again. This may reduce the use of one.s hands a little. I had struggled with my scrape for about a year!!!
I would have no hesitation at trying this gel on the palms of my hands if I had this problem.
