Is it correct to say there is an old and new formulation or version of YSL Opium? I am trying to find what I believe is the old version of it.
Yes, this has been reformulated, most recently in 2015 & is nothing like the vintage, it's really not very good at all now. If you want something similar to the pre 2008 formulation then look for the current EDP & steer well clear of the EDT.

Does ensure that this is the genuine article? I find it a great deal lighter than the one I buy at the perfumery.
My wife say's its genuine and I don't think would knowingly allow counterfeit goods to be sold through them. I do know the packaging has changed from how it once was perhaps they are using a lighter bottle, plastic in place of glass perhaps I don't really know.
